Lakesha recently launched She Swank Marketplace, a community-building brick-and-mortar marketplace that celebrates and supports independent, locally-owned and military spouse and veteran businesses.
Lakesha is the 2014 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year®. She was selected for her entrepreneurial prowess, volunteer efforts, personal sacrifice and her efforts to support the military community. In 2014 Lakesha founded Milspousepreneur at the intersection of her business expertise and community involvement. A longtime mentor to military spouses interested in starting a business, she realized that she could focus her skills and experience on the empowerment and rising influence of military spouse entrepreneurs.
Lakesha is also the co-Founder of the Rosie Company, a curated shop of military lifestyle inspired day planners, culture tees, stationery and gifts that hoists everyday military living and moments in that journey to celebrate. Lakesha also created the Rosie planner, the first official day planner for military life. It’s both a functional and beautiful daily planner that is simple to use yet resilient enough to handle the modern military spouse’s busy, chaotic, challenging – yet unpredictable – life to include navigating the duties that are often left behind such as PCS, deployments and so much more.
Lakesha holds a B.A in Print Journalism from North Carolina A&T State University and an A.A.S. in Fashion Marketing from Parsons The New School For Design.
